Most people often think that leading a healthy lifestyle is a big challenge. Sometimes when you see fit and healthy-looking people out there, it seems almost impossible to get what they have. Radiant skin, fitness, bright look, active body, mental and physical alertness, happy and cheerful disposition and so on. But do you know that achieving this level of health is really possible? Although at first, having each of these attributes may seem challenging, but over time, as you engage in a healthy lifestyle, it can have a snowball effect on your overall health. Let’s share with you how this work, as we discuss one of these healthy behaviors.
Take for instance the benefit of happiness to the health. Happiness is, of course, a worthwhile endeavor that can benefit your health in a great way. It is more or less the surest key to keeping your mind and body healthy. Can you imagine the number of people you would attract if you wear a young and refreshing look of satisfaction every day? Well, not only will you achieve this, your health will also gain some more positive effect as you consistently stay happy.
It is very important to always stay happy no matter how tough or rough your day goes. As studies have shown that people with a positive attitude (either inborn or shaped by positive life circumstances) suffer less from conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and depression.
Some of these positive attitudes are; Emotional Vitality such as being enthusiastic and hopeful about things; Being Optimistic that good things will happen to you; having supportive friends or family; as well as bouncing back from a traumatic situation and believing that things will get better again.
This is why we advise that no matter how depressed you may feel, always find something to keep you happy as it will give your feel-good hormones a boost.
Also, research has shown that happiness adds several years to a person’s life and that people who feel happy and satisfied with life live longer than people who don’t.
Of course, sad moments are inevitable, but whenever you’re frustrated or you’re having trouble solving some problem, it’s always advisable to make a beautiful smile. As smiling unfreezes a “stuck” brain. The moment you make a humor, you will surprisingly realize how creative your brain can move towards a unique solution.
It is also advised that you cultivate some healthy behaviors such as engaging physical activities, eating well and healthy; and avoiding risky behaviors such as smoking, unsafe sex, drinking excessive alcohol and regular overeating.
According to Sara Rimer and Madeline Drexler, (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/) a vast scientific literature has detailed how negative emotions harm the body. Serious, sustained stress or fear can alter biological systems in a way that, over time, adds up to “wear and tear” and, eventually, illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Chronic anger and anxiety can disrupt cardiac function by changing the heart’s electrical stability, hastening atherosclerosis, and increasing systemic inflammation.
Sure you must have heard that happiness is the best medicine and as well has a powerful impact on one’s immune system. Yes, it is true as research has shown that happy people are less likely to get sick. When exposed to the viruses that cause cold and flu, people with more positive outlook not only get sick less often and recovers faster.
Finally, research has shown that happiness can bounce back from stressful challenges most especially at your work place. So friends, choose healthy behaviors today; stay fit (physical activity), radiant (eating healthy) and happy. While relishing your happiness, you can laugh out loud to strain your muscles, smile and above all, have a positive feeling about your life.
